This is an important message from Sarah Dame, President & CEO

On behalf of the Board of Directors and myself we are so grateful for your commitment as a volunteer and being a part of the movement to provide mentors to children and youth in York Region.

As you heard earlier this summer, the Board of Directors and leadership of Big Brothers Big Sisters of York and Big Brothers Big Sisters of Peel began to explore a more formal partnership to ensure our programs and services continue to thrive throughout both regions.

Our movement continues to see transformation and unifications across the country and as we focus on continuing to innovate, and develop sustainable models that allow us to reach more vulnerable youth than ever before, we have made the decision to proceed to a full unification and bring our two agencies together as of December 31, 2021.

Below  you will find a Notice of a General Meeting of the Members scheduled for September 23rd at 6:30 PM.  This meeting will be held virtually and all members who RSVP will be provided a link prior the meeting date and time.

You will also find a proxy in the event you are not able to attend and wish to submit that by the RSVP date.

And finally, you will also find the Unification Backgrounder which provides you with further details that was distributed in June.

Please RSVP directly to by 5:00 PM on September 20, 2021.

An agenda and ZOOM link will be sent out prior to the meeting date and time.   Hope to see you at this very important meeting.

 With continued thanks,

Sarah U. Dame

Covid 19 Update:

In these challenging times of social distance and self-isolation to avoid the spread of infection from the Novel Coronavirus (COVID 19), we know that relationships are key to growth and development, and we continue to encourage the bonds of social interaction, albeit in a new and digital way. BBBSY recognizes the severity of the threat COVID-19 poses for our staff, and families, young people, and volunteers we serve. The health and well-being of Canadians, especially the most vulnerable among us is top priority.

While knowing social distancing is vital to slow the spread of Coronavirus and keep our communities safe, BBBSY staff will be working out of their home offices and can still be contacted by e-mail to make an appointment:

We appreciate the ongoing support from the community and hope everyone stays safe. For more information please visit:
