Big Brothers Big Sisters of York strives to make mentorship matches that are not only safe and tailored to each person’s needs, but that are built to last.  The entire matching process, from initial screening to final paring – and beyond – is made possible thanks to your financial support.

BBBSY match is carefully administered and held to the strictest standards. Agency staff strives for matches that are not only safe and well suited to each child’s needs, but also harmonious and built to last. But don’t just think of us as simply matchmakers. We provide ongoing support and supervision to the Big, the Little, and the Little’s family.

Making and supporting one match through its first year cost $1,000 and while funding streams lack dependability our capacity to support our matches and programs is tested as the need increases. This is why we’re looking for people willing to  support a match. You, as a match supporter, will make it possible for children and youth to be matched with caring mentors, participate in group mentoring programs and allow Big Brothers Big Sisters of York to financially support future volunteer mentors through the initial training and screening process.

You can support a full year match for $1,000 or help with $100, $250 or $500 donations!

From the customer relations employee who answers inquiries about being a Big or enrolling a child in our program, to the enrollment team that conducts interviews and background checks, evaluates applicants, and puts matches together, to the match support specialists who reinforce and monitor these mentoring relationships, it’s this highly skilled, professional team that makes BBBS’ matches so successful

We offer training and advice to help ensure that the match is working for everyone involved and our professional staff even receives its own ongoing training and consulting from the Big Brothers Big Sisters national office. It is this web of support that helps maximize the likelihood that a Big Brothers Big Sisters relationship lasts.

BBBSY spends a lot of time interviewing and pairing the right child with the right adult, nurturing the match between the child, the family and the volunteer, and supporting it with highly skilled, professional staff and programming. Quite simply, BBBSY puts its money – its $1,000 –  where its mission is.
